Write for Us
We publish carefully researched writing about measurement, conversion and why recipes fail. If that is your subject, we would like to hear from you.

What we publish
This site exists to correct a specific error: the idea that a tablespoon has one weight. Everything we publish extends that argument into a corner of the kitchen where imprecision costs somebody a result — a flat cake, a seized ganache, a bread that never rose.
The strongest pitches arrive with a number in them. An article that explains why bread flour and cake flour behave differently at the same cup volume is publishable. An article titled "10 Baking Tips" is not.
What makes a piece work here
- A specific, testable claim rather than general advice.
- Figures you can source, with the source named. Where published values disagree, say so and explain which you chose.
- Working knowledge of a kitchen — you have made the mistake you are describing.
- 1,200 words or more. Short pieces do not have room to prove anything.
- Original writing, not published elsewhere, and not assembled from other conversion sites.
Topics we are actively looking for
- Ingredient density in practice: humidity, brand variation, and how much they really move a measurement.
- Converting recipes between US, metric, UK and Australian conventions — including the traps.
- Scaling recipes up and down, and where linear scaling stops working.
- Equipment: what a kitchen scale buys you that cups cannot, and when cups are genuinely fine.
- Regional measurement conventions and the recipe-writing habits behind them.
How this works
Send an outline rather than a finished draft — a paragraph on the argument, the figures you intend to use, and where they come from. We will tell you quickly whether it fits, which saves you writing something we cannot run.
Accepted pieces are edited for accuracy first and style second. Every number gets checked against our own reference values, and we will come back to you about any that disagree rather than quietly change them.
You keep the byline and we link to your site or profile. We do not accept articles written to place a link into unrelated content, and we do not publish sponsored posts as editorial.
Send us an idea
Email an outline with a working title, the argument in a paragraph, and the sources for any figures you plan to cite. We read everything and reply to pitches that fit.
